Veterans Park, Port Richmond, Staten Island

Through this project, El Centro seeks to address two major issues: 1) Port Richmond's as a neighborhood in commercial and community transition with a profound impact on new immigrant groups; and 2) the integration of newly arrived immigrant communities through the use of Veterans Park as the venue for community building, cultural celebration and integration. El Centro coordinates an advisory committee, conducts outreach efforts, and secures community and stakeholder participation and ongoing leadership. El Centro is also designing, implementing and coordinating a park activity work plan, while building relationships among El Centro and other agencies, community organizations and local leaders.
